cookie exchange

nicole threw her annual cookie exchange party again this year
and believe it or not, my contribution was cakeballs

devil's food cakeballs with vanilla coating

yellow cakeballs with dark cocoa coating

the melts I used for the drizzle were really thick, which made it
difficult to get a nice looking drizzle on the cakeballs

what a mess
at least messing up the decoration doesn't compromise the flavor of the cakeball
these were a hit at the cookie exchange - people just love cakeballs

jar cookies

I made these triple chocolate chip cookie jars for Christmas gifts this year

started out adding the flour mixture

then the brown sugar

and the white sugar

then the cocoa power

semi-sweet chocolate chip time!

then added the milk chocolate chips

and topped it all off with white chocolate chips

cut out some fabric squares, ribbon, tags, and instruction cards to finish up the jars

merry Christmas friends!

cookie sale

made these cookies for the Farber swim school fundraiser

choco-scutterbotch cookies came from the cake mix bible

toasted oat coconut cookies came from the cake mix bible as well

double chocolate mint cookie recipe came from
the back of the hershey's mint chocolate chip wrapper

oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe is the one from
the back of the quaker oats container (substituting chocolate chips for the raisins)

these didn't make the cut - appears that the recipe I got online was incorrect
and there was too little flour to the recipe
I guess you win some and you lose some

jumbo cakeball

my first attempt at an over-sized cakeball for Chad's birthday

I had even more leftover halloween cake that I used for this cakeball

jumbo cakeball - before dipping

coating a cakeball of this size was difficult and there's no good way to smooth it out
I ended up just applying the chocolate by spooning it on (more or less)

next to a regular cakeball to give you an idea of the size

added some reeses pieces and poorly-executed piping to finish of the cakeball

loved that a coffee filter looked just like the mini cupcake liners I use

mmmm...jumbo cakeball

jumbo cakeball stole Chad's mustache

civil war 2010

I went a little overboard with tailgating treats
but I had a good time doing it

the first on the list were bon bon cookies

bon bon cookies
1/2 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. confectioners sugar, sifted
1 tbsp vanilla extract
orange food coloring
1 1/2 c. flour
1/8 tsp salt

preheat the oven to 350 degrees and beat together butter, sugar, vanilla, and color
combine flour and salt, then add that to the mixture above

take a tbsp of dough and wrap it around a couple chocolate chips
you could also use nuts, dried fruit, or other candy

place cookies an inch apart and bake for 12-15min
after cooled, dip the cookies in the glaze and add topping if desired

icing
1 c. confectioners sugar, sifted
2 tbsp cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
orange food coloring

I topped these ones off with a dark chocolate covered coffee bean

then I moved on to mini cupcakes (w/leftover halloween cake mix, frosting & sprinkles)

next up were the sugar cookies

these had chocolate frosting as well, just colored it black

go beavs!

and last but certainly not least were the cakepops and cakeballs
for the pops I used a pot filled with rice and dried black beans at the top

devil's food cakeballs covered in vanilla melts
orange cakeballs (yellow cake colored orange) covered in dark cocoa melts

devil's food cakeballs covered in orange flavored melts

managed to spare four cakeballs - one for each of my duck friends at work

after the desserts were done, I threw something savory together
breakfast casserole!
